Buddhavarapu Charitable Trust (BCT), which is conducting ‘Godavari Harathi’ on every full-moon day (Pournima) on the banks of the Godavari river on the lines of ‘Ganga Harathi,’ is going to conduct Karthika Pournima Harathi on November 6 in a grand manner this year also. Announcing this in a press conference, BCT chairman and director S.N. Kumar and Raja said that this was the fifth consecutive year they were conducting the ‘Godavari Harathi’ and the Trust has decided urge the State government to take up ‘Godavari Prakshalan’ on the same way as ‘Ganga Prakshalan’ taken up by the Centre. They said that they have prepared a master plan . “Cleansing the river Ganga has taken up after it was completely polluted. But, we have to take up Godavari Prakshalan at an early stage,” Mr. Kumar said.Mr. Raja said that on November 6, they were going to arrange a photo, painting exhibition on temples, endowments, tourism, language, culture, agriculture and other traditions along the river Godavari at Pushkara Ghat — the main venue of the Harathi Utsav. He also said that on the same evening, “Big Debate on Clean Godavari” will be held by Journalist Radhakrishna (R.K) of a private T.V. Channel, Pledge by people of Rajahmundry including a large number of students, Ganesh Nrityam by Nrityamala Academy, Hyderabad and Music concert by Bombay Sisters, Chennai. Former DGP K. Aravinda Rao said that he would participate in cleansing Godavari and other programmes and stressed the need to protect the greenery and ecological balance, which our Vedas and Puranas already told. Literary personality Salaka Raghunatha Sarma also participated.
