The Aikya Vedika, a forum for development in West Godavari district, on Wednesday urged the State government to establish National Institute of Technology (NIT) in the circuit of Nallajarla-Jangareddygudem-Chintalapudi. A delegation from the forum headed by its convener Brijgopal Lunani made a representation to Member of Parliament Maganti Venkateswara Rao and city MLA Badeti Kotarama Rao (Bujji), with a request to take up the issue with the State government. Speaking to the media, Mr. Lunani thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for sanctioning an NIT to the district. Referring to the Nallajarla-Jangareddygudem-Chintalapudi area, he said that the circuit was the most ideal location for the NIT in view of availability of sufficient government land, adding that the locality was well connected via air, rail and roads.Welcoming the government initiative to build the capital in Vijayawada region, Mr. Lunani highlighted the need for bringing Eluru under the jurisdiction of the State Capital Region (SCR). It was proposed to build a ring road around the borders of Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri (VGTM) Urban Development Authority which could be transformed into the SCR, which was just 5 km away from West Godavari district borders, he pointed out. “If Eluru is included in the ORR project, development of Vijayawada, Guntur and Eluru with a tri-city concept will become a reality,” he added.
